Without wishing to avoid this difficult subject, because of the complexity and sensitivity of Domestic Abuse, its causes and effects will not be explored or discussed here as it may prohibit those affected by it, from seeking the help that they need, but please get in contact if this is an issue which is affecting you.
In its various forms (verbal, emotional, physical, sexual or financial), Domestic Abuse affects 1 in 6 men and 1 in 4 women in their lifetime and therefore affects many relationships. Clients need to know that if they come for counselling and Domestic Abuse is disclosed, they will not face judgement or condemnation. Instead, through open and honest discussion they will be encouraged and supported to address the situation in order to deal with it appropriately.
